Well, I couldn't let the topic of Gas Prices go by without at least some sort of comment. After watching prices soar immediately following Katrina and then hear of the tales of gouging all over the country, then to see prices correct a bit and now... ugh. It just plain sucks. I know, in America we are still paying, ounce for ounce, less for gasoline than many other areas of the world, but the recent jump, which by the way seems to have no end, is a real killer for a lot of folks. So what is the answer? The ideas are wide and varied, but are they really going to have an impact? If this is a global issue, which it is, is there any relief in sight? Probably not. And to top it off, today I am hearing of some gas stations are running out of supply. Apparently some terminals were "short" on fuel today. Great, just what we need. A 2006 repeat of the 70's. I know, that is a bit overboard, but it is a frustration that we all have. Who knows, maybe someone will figure out a way to convert common garden weeds into a fuel that can power our vehicles. I know this for sure, I feel like someone has just bent me over and stuck a fan belt in my mouth to prepare for the ride of a lifetime. And it is not the profits that the oil execs are enjoying. After all, this is America and if they have a product that is more "addictive" to every American than heroin, then I say, job well done. Capitalism at its finest. That doesn't make me feel any better when my vehicle, which has a 14 gallon tank costs $40 to fill up from a quarter of a tank. So, if you will all join me in a single loud voice.... THIS SUCKS. I am sure you have all seen the emails about not buying gas on a certain day or not buying gas from the two big guys (you know who they are). While the first concept is simply useless, the second **might** work, but getting a few million people to do the same thing and stick to it is just plain silly. After all, if we could do that, none of us would pay taxes and social security would be fixed. I guess I have gone on enough about this. Simple fact is, I can't really do much about it. But I have to say, it does feel better to bitch a little ;)
